Beliefs

What we believe and value.
Here you will find what we believe about God, Jesus, the Bible, humanity, and the truths at the heart of our faith. Rooted in Scripture, these convictions guide us as a church and shape the life we share together. Alongside them are the values that keep our church centered on what matters most: faithfully following Jesus, honoring His Word, and sharing the Gospel with all people.
At Mount Zion, these truths and values shape how we know God and walk with Him.
God the Father
We believe in one God, the Father, the Maker of all things visible and invisible. He is the source of life, and in Him every creature lives, moves, and has its being.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners. Born of the virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit, He lived without sin, died for our redemption, rose again, and ascended into heaven, where He now serves as our great High Priest.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, equal in power and glory with the Father and the Son. He brings about the work of regeneration and sanctification in the lives of believers, and graciously endows us with gifts to serve God.
The Holy Trinity
We believe in one Triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, eternal in being, identical in nature, and equal in power and glory.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a supernatural empowering from heaven, equipping the believer for effective witness and faithful service.
Salvation
Salvation
The Holy Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is the infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God, given to lead all people to salvation in Christ and to guide us in righteousness and holy living.
The Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus was crucified and died for the sins of mankind on the cross at Calvary, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven and is forever seated at the right hand of God the Father.
The Rapture
We believe in the Rapture, that future moment when, in the twinkling of an eye, the Lord Jesus Christ will transform every believer, both living and departed, giving them resurrected, immortal bodies as He catches them up to meet Him in the air.
The Great Tribulation
We believe in a coming seven-year period of the reign of the antichrist, immediately following the Rapture, during which God will bring judgment upon the earth because of mankind's rejection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ
We believe that after the seven years of the antichrist's reign, the Lord Jesus will establish His holy government on the earth for one thousand years, a season in which the purposes of God are fully realized, marked by peace, joy, holiness, glory, comfort, and justice.
The Judgement Seat of Christ
We believe believers will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, where each one will be rewarded according to faithfulness in the service of God and the stewardship of the gifts and talents He has given.
Heaven
We believe heaven is the glorious, eternal home of every born-again believer and the dwelling place of God Himself.
Hell
We believe hell is the final abode and place of eternal torment for Satan, his angels, and all who reject Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
The Lord's Supper
We believe the Lord's Supper, consisting of the bread and the wine, is a memorial of the suffering and death of Jesus, a proclamation of His second coming, and a sign of our sharing in the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Water Baptism
We believe water baptism is an act of outward obedience by which we testify to the inward change God has worked in our hearts, identifying ourselves with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

The pursuit of God
We thirst for the presence of God and long to know Him more, through private and public worship, through His Word, and through prayer. (Psalm 42:1–2; 63:1–3; Matthew 5:23; Luke 6:21)
Christlikeness
We desire to be like our Lord and Saviour in all our conduct, serving people with compassion as He did, under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, and conveying the love, mercy, and power of God through the ministry of the church. (Luke 14:16–20; John 20:21; Ephesians 5:2; Colossians 3:12)
Godly family life
We believe parents are called to live as examples to their children, cultivating a home in which spiritual, emotional, and social growth can be fully nurtured. (Deuteronomy 6:7; Proverbs 22:6; 2 Timothy 3:15)
Marital fidelity
We honor marriage as a covenant in which husband and wife depend on one another for spiritual, emotional, and intimate companionship. (Proverbs 5:15–19; 1 Corinthians 7:3–5; Galatians 5:19–20; Hebrews 13:4)
Purposeful singleness
We celebrate the unique calling of singleness, believing that this season can be devoted wholeheartedly to the blessing and building up of the church. (Matthew 19:12c; 1 Corinthians 7:32–34)

The dignity of every member
We treat one another with respect and gracious courtesy, regardless of gender, social, or physical standing. We seek to help every member grow in grace and to fully realize the God-given potential within them. (John 13:35; Romans 12:9–10; Galatians 6:10; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; Colossians 3:12–14)
The mercy of God
We humbly recognize that every good thing we receive from God flows from His mercy, even the blessings we might regard as “rights” because we are His children. We therefore seek to extend that same mercy to one another and to all who come under the ministry of the church. (Psalm 52:8; Lamentations 3:22–23; Colossians 3:12; James 5:11)
Giving
We give ourselves first to the cause of the Kingdom of God, and we encourage one another to give from our material and financial blessings with willing, cheerful hearts, recognizing that every ability to give comes from God Almighty, from whom all blessings flow. (1 Chronicles 29:12–14; Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 8:1–2, 5, 7; 9:6–8)
Personal and corporate integrity
We conduct our affairs truthfully and honestly in every sphere, so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ may never suffer reproach because of our conduct. (2 Corinthians 13:8; Ephesians 4:15; 5:9; 6:14; James 5:12)
Servant leadership
Our leaders are called to serve the members of the church as Christ Himself served, selflessly, and never for profit or self-glory. (Matthew 10:42; John 13:13–15; Acts 20:18–19)
Unity in the Body of Christ
In agreement with the Scriptures, we believe all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour belong to one Body, and we earnestly seek to preserve that unity with all such believers. (Psalm 133:1; Romans 12:5; Ephesians 4:3–6, 13)
Simplicity
In both private and public worship, we desire to do nothing for mere effect or for showing off, only what is genuine before God. (Philippians 2:3; Colossians 3:17)
Modesty
We seek to live with quiet grace, generous and gracious in speech, firm in conviction, and chaste in our dress and conduct. (Galatians 5:26; Philippians 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:14; 1 Peter 3:3–4; 1 John 2:15–17)
